Melonellum is coming to STATUO.
The rules of Italian elections have changed. Now the political strategy game is preparing to change with them. Can you win enough seats — and keep the coalition together once the real work begins?
Riuscirai a conquistare i seggi necessari, formare una maggioranza e mantenerla al governo?
A new political battlefield
Italy’s new electoral reform was approved by Parliament on 8 October 2026 and promulgated on 9 October. Supporters have called it the “Stabilicum”; critics frequently refer to it as the “Melonellum”. STATUO uses the widely recognised Melonellum name in all markets so the update can be identified internationally.
The reform shifts strategic attention to coalition-building before the vote and the threshold for a majority prize. This creates fresh opportunities for a game about winning power — and the difficult art of keeping it.
What this means for STATUO
We are preparing an update inspired by the new electoral framework, focused on translating elections, coalitions and seat allocation into meaningful choices. Exact in-game mechanics and release timing will be confirmed when testing and publication are complete.
Important: This is a preview announcement. The Melonellum update is not yet part of the currently published STATUO build. STATUO is fictional entertainment, independent of and not affiliated with any political party, candidate or government.
What country comes next?
